SENIOR ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER

(Acute Care Trained Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner)

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, College of Medicine is recruiting candidates for a full-time Senior Advanced Practice Provider. The provider will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients in a dual role of outpatient and or inpatient setting in the Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

Responsibilities will include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. Working with administration, nurses, physicians, and university faculty to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote educational and research missions.

The provider will process pre-op evaluations of patients in preparation for cardiac and thoracic surgery, harvesting conduit including vein and radial artery for bypasses, remove chest tubes, pacing wires, wound care and general procedures using local anesthesia. Must be able to make rounds in the CVICU efficiently progressing the patient to discharge and see post-op patients at the VA, Valve Clinic, and at OU Health Physicians outpatient clinic.

Will facilitate consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team, incorporating the patient and family in care planning and treatment, by considering cost effectiveness, risk analysis, benefits analysis when making decisions about patient care, serving as an advocate for patients and families in navigating the health care system.

The provider will need to be acute care trained with 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Oklahoma and board certified as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Physician Assistant.

Salary: Competitive Salary Commensurate with the level of experience and Full benefits package.

·         Physician Assistants will need to be certified in CPR, with 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider and licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of Oklahoma

·         Nurse Practitioners will need to be Acute Care Trained, with 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider, CPR Certified, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified, and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Oklahoma

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants must obtain the required licensure from the State of Oklahoma within 30 days after the offer of employment.
