The Clinical Assistant performs direct care to the assigned group of patients using basic administrative and nursing assistant skills and assists to maintain and acquire records and reports. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. The Clinical Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Provides assistance to the coordinator and physician as needed.
* Schedules all medical procedures and places orders for all appropriate tests
* Receives and directs phone calls, maintains and files all medical records, copies, orders supplies, and greets and gives directions to patients and visitors
* Relates all pertinent information to the Clinical Coordinator and/or physician
* Retrieves and submits data for international data bank
* Enters clinic charges into the electronic record system and submits records to third party payors to obtain insurance authorization
* Assists in training new employees
For NZTI:
* Provides assistance to the coordinator and physician as needed for pre transplant, post transplant, and/or medical management
For ICIO:
* Gathers and documents information about patient condition, which include lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status and potential complications
* Contributes to the assessment/re assessment of patients
* Monitors and documents patient status
* Participates in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions.
The Clinical Assistant reports to the Nurse Manager.
