PEDIATRIC CARDIAC – ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, College of Medicine is recruiting candidates for a full-time Pediatric Cardiovascular – Lead Advanced Practice Provider. The provider will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care and exceptional treatment to infants, children, and teenagers who have complex heart defects. This position is a dual role of outpatient and or inpatient setting in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities will include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families. Working with administration, nurses, physicians, and university faculty to assure safe, effective, quality care to patients acute and chronic health needs and to promote educational and research missions. The candidate should be able to first and second assist a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon as they perform Adult Congenital cases and a wide variety of Pediatric cases to include but not limited to Norwood, Glenn, Fontan, arterial switch, and double switch. The principal focus will be performing first and second Assistant duties in the operating room.\u00a0 Additional duties and responsibilities may include rounding on inpatient units, performing bedside procedures and managing outpatients.<\/p>\n

Provides care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, and institutional policy and practice agreements. Serves on leadership and operational committees. Supervises and trains staff and Advanced Practice Providers.<\/p>\n

Must be a board-certified Nurse Practitioner Acute Track Trained or Board-Certified Physician Assistant, with zero to five years of experience. Will need to have achieved a Master\u2019s Degree from an accredited Nursing Program or Physician Assistant Program. Ability to apply for an active DEA license prior to or upon hire.<\/p>\n

Physicians Assistants<\/strong> will need to be Certified in CPR, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment in this position.<\/p>\n

Nurse Practitioners<\/strong> will need to be Acute Care Trained and Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certified. Must also be CPR, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment in this position.<\/p>\n

Candidates (NP\u2019s or PA\u2019s) must obtain required licensure from the State of Oklahoma within 30 days of employment.<\/p>\n
